AllMusic

At the heart of it all, this set is dark, sometimes exciting, and a step in the right direction for the immensely popular but critically maligned duo. World-weariness and a troubled heart suit them well and managed to do some good on Sick Boy.

The hooks aren't half as memorable, and what sticks isn't the music but its emotions, which aren't sharply drawn to begin with. Instead of conning us with a smile, Taggart looks at us po-faced, shoves this plate of music in our hands, and shuffles sheepishly away.

Pitchfork

Given the self-loathing and stylistic anonymity of Sick Boy at large, it’s enough to suggest that maybe the Chainsmokers are starting to get sick of themselves, too.

The Guardian

A torrent of spew-inducing self-pity.

I have to say my expectations were quite low but WOW! I mean no expectations could have prepared me for this. Holy crap!

Just kidding I didn’t listen.

They seem to become more sterile with every record. It's utterly devoid of the soul that might qualify the "human experiences" The Chainsmokers and their collaborators attempt to reflect on.

Rating: Poor to Awful (32).

Drew please stop singing.

Other than that it has some interesting ideas, but most have been done before. The chainsmokers seem to heavily borrow from Zedd/Diplo/Skrillex to make their songs sound interesting. Most of the album just doesn't work for me although it does have some fun sounding songs, but it gets bogged down by the cringy lyrics.

it's literally a bunch of singles. This "album" does give me some really good vibes though, it's definitely not great by any means and it's debatable to say it's even good. It makes me feel good listening to it though. It's fun
