This is one of the best metal albums ever. A graceful mixture of classical majesty and black-metal brooding and aggression, Aspera is a powerhouse album chock full of charged riffs, sinister chants and howls, and some wonderfully foreboding atmospheres.

Wildly different 90s black metal record. Very symphonic, but not in the way of other epic metal bands at the time. There is a lot of classical influenced oddities here with great atmosphere. Garm's vocals on this are also a highlight, with him showcasing his great raspy shrieks and over the top cleans.
Nothing else quite sounds like Arcturus.
