Another beautiful release from Nils Frahm. Encores 1 was one of my favorite releases of 2018, Encores 2 is also another incredible release. Encores 2 is more layered and textured than Encores 1. If 'Encores 1' was entirely from one piano, then here comes a new variety of different sounds: from the familiar piano to assembled electronics.
This EP does a fantastic job of showing all that Nils Frahm is capable of. From his beautiful and touching piano pieces to gentle and blissful ambient works, to a monster of a progressive electronic piece in Spells. It's without a doubt the highlight of his Encores series and one of my favorite EPs.
Encores 2 was a beautiful, textured and very soothing release. The mix of the atmospheric heaven-like elements with the piano and, on some tracks, electronic music was very well done.
While this doesn't really bring anything new to the table of this kind of music, I must say that this was a very good listen and I can't wait for it to grow on me a bit more. I mean, I don't know why, but I can't get enough of this peaceful nature with pianos music style...
The only track I'm not totally crazy about is the final one, but that's quite a bit of the overall runtime so that's gonna lower the score. But those first three tracks are downright amazing.
