Fuck the Oscars and their technicalities. How Jonny Greenwood hasn't got one, when he should've won for this, is a mystery.
A few days ago I watched There Will Be Blood, which I fell in love with immediately, so I had no choice but to give it a 5 star rating on Letterboxd (which you should totally go follow me on, ahaha.) I loved the movie so much that I wanted to listen to the soundtrack on it's own, and to no surprise, it's incredible. I'm not usually a big fan of soundtracks and scores, but this album really makes me feel like my milkshake is being drunk by Daniel Day-Lewis. Also, 800 followers, neat. 🩸
This is a spectacular soundtrack to a film I’ve never seen. The best soundtracks are the ones that don’t need the film to make it a great listen! It’s all orchestral music, so if that’s not your vibe then don’t bother. I however can get down with some mothafuckin’ strings, and it sounds so good and different than a majority of Radiohead stuff. A great project from one of the most innovative guitarists of the 90’s and 2000’s.
Not only is this as unsettling as the film, but it is just as good and fits the atmosphere of the film perfectly.
