This one just didn't have it in comparison to the rest of Elton's albums. The energy was there, sure, but the songwriting and emphatic passion just didn't feel like they resounded like many of his best works. It's genuinely difficult to have a consistently strong hour-long piano-based album, and it stands to reason that had the album been shorter it may have been sweeter.
