-1 point because he had me over with the great cover

Parker Millsap has one of the best male voices in the contemporary Americana/alt-country scene -- he has an excellent and pure tone, but can also pull off grittiness and gravitas, while maintaining agility. This already makes the album a worthwhile listen, but he impresses with his songwriting as well; I'm particularly a fan of his portrayals of religious life, but in general, his depictions of small town life are on point.

Amazing debut from a new artist! Fresh and different songwriting based on characters. Melodically catchy and yet meaningful lyrics at the same time. My only criticism is that I wish it was longer.

The very distinct voice, surely beyond his years, speaks from a bygone era, with a new edginess. Think Lyle Lovett meets Robert Smith!
