A familiar formula, but just as welcoming as ever. A subtle, quiet record packed with typical Americana/country rock staples that embraces you like a tight, warm hug. But packed under the relaxing subtly of the instrumentation is Willy Vautin's dark, tragic and even semi romantic lyrics delivered perfectly by Doone's dreary yet deeply alluring voice. This album is set of believable stories bought vividly to life trough pretty instrumentation and haunting vocals. The first album I have listened ... read more

The lyrics tell a beautifully damaged story, but the production and songwriting is lackluster across the album and the overall album feels basic and uninspired.

Smooth and soft melodies, pretty and tender vocals, crystal clear lyrics: The Imperial is a well-crafted album, but the despondent and resigned vibe doesn't sit well with me. There are feeble thoughts of hope scattered around, yet the ultimate tone is that of feeling sorry for oneself—just like Charley on the first song. I can fully appreciate melancholy, except when it's moribund and callow.

The brilliant The Imperial shows off some edgy and legit americana performance, this is the most likely human intimation of everyday feelings revealed on that such of lucid songwriting and stripped storytelling. It is helpt by an atmosphere cropped with full of minimalistic and orchestral instrumentals. This is what it can be expected by anybody else from the field musically, but this a lit of delights and calm around it. It cohexists with itself.

It has a big mellow country heart to its bluesy tunes...

"The Imperial" works best as something to put on the background, as the album offers some very well made slow country ballads. However the album's storytelling sometimes feels very generic and uninspired, despite being coated in fantastic instrumentation and arrangements.

A very modern country album, "The Imperial" is a straightforward collection of songs rooted in self-reflection. The album is mostly enjoyable with good opening songs like the title track and "Where ... read more

"The Imperial" aumentou a minha curiosidade em querer saber mais sobre o country (ou o country-rock, se preferirem), porque, embora algumas músicas sejam aborrecidas ou semelhantes, este álbum é autêntico, esperançoso e delicado.

it's literally the same thing over and over. i can enjoy one song, but it feels like a weirdly boring mashup between Lana del Rey and Country Rock
