Gary’s guitar licks are disgusting, my god. Not a whole lot to say here. While it takes a little bit to get going and there isn’t a whole lot to sink your teeth into outside of surface value, it’s a pretty solid blues rock project. I expect nothing less from GCJ

WORST TRACK: I Got My Eyes on You
Glad to hear he's ignored his tendency to soften the blues with a radio-pop contemporariness, as he does. It is nice to finally have a proper blues rock entry from Clark that isn't simply another boring soft-rock jam sesh. This outing, albeit edgier, is still a bit long-winded and doesn't have any stand-out cuts that pack the necessary punch to propel it to classic status.
Every time that guitars gets the spot, I get the chills. This guy f*cks.
It takes the album a few songs to really start, but by the time that you hit I Got My Eyes on You you're fully invested in what GCJ is deciding to play like.
This Land is Gary’s third major label release and it finds him reaffirming the sounds he’s been doing for years in which he blends Blues, Rock and R&B into a sound very much his own, but this time around he doesn’t seem content with just showing off his skills on the guitar, but rather those of an exceptional songwriter.
