Tiny Mix Tapes

The rich, roomy tonal fidelity on display is a big part of what makes Angel click. There’s a true and subtly endearing marriage made here between what’s always made these guys great and a bit of judicious heart-on-the-sleeve traditionalism.

Pretty Much Amazing

It’s a heartfelt, narcotic odyssey through the seductive pleasures of lava lamps and black light posters, a kind of escapism that comes in the same strange, silk-screened colors as the novelty lighters and t-shirts one might find at a backwoods southwestern gas station.

All along, Angel just sort of cruises on with tempos pegged to double-digit BPMs and the mood locked on “as mellow as humanly possible.”

Instead of sprawling landscapes or harrowing emotional rawness, Angel feels like a continuous, slow-motion sunset on a coastline in a dream.

Best Track: Heaven or Wishin' On The Same Star
Worst Track: White Roses
Most Overrated Track: Livin' The Dream
Most Underrated Track: Fly Away With Me Woman
