i'm a huge fan of synthpop most of the time, and this album does a great job of channeling 80s energy into a modern setting. i can easily imagine most of its songs being from that era, and that's a very good thing.

Tamaryn Brown largely abandons any lingering traces of dream pop or shoegaze in her music on “Dreaming the Dark,” instead embracing full-on synthpop with goth undertones. “Synthpop” and “80's” can be used in a lazily interchangeable manner, but Tamaryn’s usage of synths is strikingly and purposefully stuck in the 80s. An amazing and fresh synth-pop sound with a slightly different, rougher vocals than on the old albums, but this makes it even more soulful and memorable, but also dreamy and refreshing. When I listen to this album, I present myself in an artificial paradise, well, a very atmospheric album, from the album I would single out the songs Victim Complex, The Jealous Kind and Dreaming The Dark and call them a model of what kind of dance and melancholy electronics should be.
It is a clash between a dark cloud and a rainbow (the magic of synthpop). It gave me touches of joy, but without abandoning my dark soul. Friendly and catchy record. Impossible not to move with rhythms like "Path To Love".
