In their 2019 collaborative effort, Bill and Rav rap about their struggles and experiences in life over some amazing abstract beats. The rapping I'm not completely in love with for Rav, but I do enjoy pretty much all of Bills. What I love about every song are the beats though, especially Dirge, which has probably my favourite beat. The sample there is just godlike.
some of these songs are one of the best Rav has ever put out in an album but some of them also feel somewhat stale and even repetitive, and while the sound of this album is relaxing and even beautiful, it can feel the same for multiple tracks
overall decent project, SKIN is better tho
favs: Dirge, Lovedrug (Off That), Saffron, Fair One
A much more consistent project than Beneath The Toxic Jungle, but at the cost of less stand out tracks. Been procrastinating listening to this thing since it's the most critically acclaimed Rav album from my perspective, but every track on this thing was super enjoyable. This one might grow on me too, several tracks on this thing gave me the exact vibe that they wanted to. Some of these felt like floating on a cloud, some skating through a city, and some a very jazzy laid back vibe. I feel like ... read more
This album is a good collab with Rav and Kill Bill. They can talk about dark things at times on this album but I think their styles really overlap nicely. The production on this album is amazing.
Fully leaning into their more modern, experimental lo-fi sound, this is the most definitive Exo project yet. Taking more and more influence from Future Funk, RnB, LA Beats and Vaporwave, this album is easily the most accessible and inclusive tape from the label. The production is a perfect mix of Rav’s unique lo-fi tones, sounding more like production from Just Blaze, J Dilla & Björk than modern Lo-fi Hip Hop, with the mood and themes of Kill Bill’s Proto-Horrorcore ... read more
The delivery of the lyrics mixed with the uniqueness of the production makes this album a really fun jam, while I do think some songs kind of overdo in some factors. Still, this album gets me repeating a chorus in my head for an entire day after I come back to any song and that's one of the few cases I let the lyrical parasite eat my brain whole. Songs like these remove my cerebral kaijus.
I never knew that collab these two artists are gonna blown out of bad toxicity in a fictional relationship of a woman. Most successful heats in lyrical content and production still have time to observe a piece of telling the world lies ahead.
I am not a fan of Rav’s delivery sadly and the rest of the composition does not stand out compared to the Ramona album
really awesome production, very vibey album. pretty long feeling, but nothing here is bad. only complaint is that the moon on the cover is very clearly not a new moon and it's really disappointing they'd lie like that.
New Moon is an enjoyable and more lowkey project.
Rav Discog #3
Kill Bill probably outraps Rav in this one because I found his performances to be more memorable, but they share a good duo with each other on this project, such as Lovedrug or Dirge. Lil Empathy as an outro is definitely a standout from the slight difference from the rest of the project being such melancholic compared to the rest in a different way, due to it just being Rav and Rekcahdam's poetry. Airospace has also his first ... read more
