On her third album, Even In The Tremor, Spaltro lets her songs stop and start, muscle their way into cacophonous corridors and dawdle in pretty little nooks. Meanwhile, the vocalizing of her wordy narratives rarely settles into a pat melody, instead wending in the direction her raw emotions are taking her.
I prefer Ripely Pine and Tender Warriors Club to this but she is just so lovable, and that voice. what can you say about that voice. her songwriting is more confessional and Kozelekian than ever, except with lots of internal rhyme schemes, something she is very accomplished at doing without it sounding forced. there are just enough of those inspiring moments where she lets it all hang out to redeem the less finished pieces, and I probably am rating this too high, but I don't care you know ... read more
its a bit cheesy at times but lady lamb proves that she knows what she is doing with entertaining lyrics that do a remarkable job at story telling, as well as a voice that fills in the gaps of the conservative backing instrumentals
