If you had me at gunpoint and asked what my favourite band was, my answer would be the Mountain Goats (or Muse)
Since 1991 John Darnielle has been the main force and frontman of his collective the Mountain Goats, which has had a pretty stable lineup for over a decade now, plus the wonderful addition of sax man/multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas since around 2015. there were some parts i didn’t really care for but i liked the highs quite a bit, overall pretty good

You know what? It's better than I remember it being in 2019 - 'Clemency for the Wizard King', 'Passaic 1975', 'Going Invisible 2' and 'Possum by Night' do a lot of the heavy lifting.
In League With Dragons has some solid hooks and a whimsical vibe that plants it firmly in the top half of The Mountain Goats enormous catalog. If you're a playlist maker who's only hunting for the hits, start with anything from side B. This record is oddly bottom-heavy.
