Lake Street Dive writes a distinctly revivalist yet idiosyncratic blend of Muscle Shoals-styled retro soul, contemporary folk, and jazz, combined with infectious pop melodies and some absolsutely incredible vocals. Impressively, it never seems like festival-bait; Lake Street Dive aren’t just dabbling in these styles – they’ve lived them, and the passion and skill is obvious, churning out one banger after another. Very enjoyable and replayable.

Of course the portraits aren't bad but they're not good either. The truth lies somewhere in the middle for these soft-rockers.
