Wand is like Radiohead from the timeline where they are Acid Addicts writing songs about Zeus and Ronald Reagan pounding Michelle Obama in the sky.
I can't shake the fact that Cory Hanson (lead vocalist) has that uncanny resemblance to Thom Yorke's vocals. Good thing is, this record shimmers all the way through its massive 14 track album which expands from grungy, garage rock to an expansive psychedelia sound. An adventurous, rewarding listening experience.
I won't usually knock a band because they resemble another artist—everyone steals from others to varying degrees—but when it's to the point that I'm only thinking how much this reminds me of something else during the entire experience, I think there's an issue.

Not to say this is anywhere near the tragic copy that is Greta Van Fleet. But I do think Wand needs to find a way to differentiate itself
One guy mentioned Radiohead so now everyone keeps comparing this to them which is obviously going to make this feel like a "Let Down"... :D
Seriously though Cory's vocals haven't changed at all, he's always sounded like this. If you listened to Plum you could see they were heading in this direction, and as a whole you can tell there were multiple influences. Take the song "Xoxo", it opens just like a Damaged Bug (John Dwyer) song, who Cory is good friends with.

A really pleasant album. Not a huge departure from their previous album. Still enough "trippy" injections to keep the album in the psychedelic rock arena. The female vocals were a nice change but were sparse (one song?). The album got a little same-y after awhile unfortunately which was exemplified with the length.
