Drowned in Sound
More than any other Ambient album I've heard in the last few years, 'Tired Sounds Of' succeeds in liberating Ambient from it's often undeserved status as aural wallpaper, delivering sledgehammer emotion with feather light restraint, and soundtracking every emotional peak and trough you choose to apply to these accomplished, twilight symphonies.

It’s, well, just Stars of the Lid. It’s drone and ambient music. You know what you’re getting here, but with The Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid, you’re getting the best from the best. Turn it on; lose yourself; and wake up to a new you. Hyperbole, you say" Unbelievable" Boring" No.

Despite its more songlike structures, More Tired Songs is actually for those who are tired of songs, period, and are looking for something less, something unspeakably beautiful and determinedly unmentionable in its vast and luxuriant erasure from any musical category.

In their crowded field, it's hard to say exactly what makes Stars of the Lid so special. It comes to mind that their relentless commitment to subtlety sets them apart, as does their masterful hand with tone. Throughout The Tired Sounds, dissonance is doled out in small portions, perfectly coloring the sculpted fields of sound.

Another genre I love to explore in my spare time is drone music. The way everything slowly progresses through a use of sustained sounds / notes and is able to evolve into ... read more

Despondent and floating. What a way to go, ay?
I think if I had to choose how to die, it would be in a tranquil way. Not slow, not painful but, an ascension of sorts. Floating forever upwards as I see the ground below grow smaller and smaller, no one else seeing me as I float on skywards. What a way to go, ay?

Despondent and floating. Is that really a life?
Floating through space, knowing nothing, seeing nothing, hearing no sound nor feeling anything. A true state of limbo. What does it feel ... read more

Some people find this as an insult to ambient music but I say it as a compliment. I listened to the whole album while I was doing some reading for college and it helped me a lot

My reading album that I always just threw on. Listened to the rest of it and it didn't disappoint.
