Public Enemy very loudly and proudly repped the idea of being the nation's public enemy, the villains that would demand attention and respect wherever they stood. But, in the end, PE didn't want to be bad guys. They wanted to instill a very strict sense of moral justice, an identity of community and self-preservation for black Americans to protect themselves from the obstruction and oppression of the majority class. So, to pair with this hardline stance, they relied on loud, boisterous sounds ... read more
(I was falling asleep while writing this, kinda rushed sorry! I tried my best though :3 <3)
Another classic, Ice Cube strikes again! One of the greatest west coast rappers makes another great album. I think it is able to compete with the album, “Death Certificate” that came out after this. I think “Death Certificate” is the better record though, but this one is close enough. You can really hear how Ice Cube was fed up with N.W.A. and its old manager, Jerry Heller. He ... read more
Cube wasn't kidding when he said he was AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted. He really was. No one fucked with cube in the early 90s. Also the beginning of the best 3 album run in Hip Hop.

Pretty one-dimentional both lyrically and sonically, but it's a decent record overall

EDIT: Don't know why I liked Rollin' Wit the Lench Mob (76 -> 75)
Maybe my problem with these old school hip hop albums is Dr. Dre's production, 'cause his beats don't do as much for me. On the other hand, this album has The Bomb Squad as the main producers, and their beats are entertaining. But I can't say the same for Ice Cube's rapping. It's straight up the same borderline yelling across the entire album. Though, the first two tracks (not including the intro) are classics. The songs ... read more
Black History Month 21:
People who said that Ice Cube can’t rap are oblivious as hell. Cube was spitting on this record about a lot of things from a character close to his upbringing. That’s not something that entails bad rapping as that’s a decent skill. While the spitting is one of the better parts of this album, along with the storytelling and overall sonic palette, it can be the same at points as the levels to the album don’t exist as it’s one continuous ... read more
