This avant-garde jazz album stands out because of the incredible Kidambi vocals, with otherworldly inflection and personality. Everything conceptually and instrumentally here is great, with very few flubs. My only complaint lies in the tail half of the record, where a few moments see Elder Ones trying a bit too hard to be experimental with some loose-fitting fusion elements. You could argue that this style of avant-garde jazz deserves a more dense instrumental palette, and I wouldn’t take that away from you at all. However, I think that most of this album’s impact comes from its minimalistic approach. Not ever experimental jazz album has to be a Little Women project. The concept is a good one, but honestly the instrumentation is lacking. I like the jazz, but it lacks depth and becomes so frantic at points that frankly, it's ear-grating.
