without Electric Counterpoint this record would be unsalvageable to me. the vocal samples, the train whistle, the constant constant fucking repetition of the violins, it's possibly the most grating thing ive ever listened to. not one part of Different Trains was enjoyable to me. an exercise in tedium, rather than interesting repetition.

first half is honestly a little underwhelming, but the second half hits pretty hard. it’s soft, mainly just finger plucking, but still super calm and nice. definitely carries the first half hard
