without Electric Counterpoint this record would be unsalvageable to me. the vocal samples, the train whistle, the constant constant fucking repetition of the violins, it's possibly the most grating thing ive ever listened to. not one part of Different Trains was enjoyable to me. an exercise in tedium, rather than interesting repetition.
