I usually make bigger reviews about Low records, and maybe I could expand this one later, but Drums And Guns is just too odd and I don't know how to describe it. "Murderer" is probably one of my top 10 Low songs.
To me, Drums and Guns is the perfect Low record. Its much leaner than most of their records but its strong song writing and instrumentation coalesce perfectly.
Yes. I'm trying to work on not throwing hundreds all over the place, but Drums and Guns is a deeply incredible record. Low taking their sound and paring it back in a weird reinforcement of themes and a departure from dynamics to create an anti-war album that functions just as well on an interpersonal level. Uniquely harsh mixing forces audio on one side or another, dividing the album's ingredients and forcing you to examine each part.
