Really enjoyable, compelling record after listening a few times through. The production on this album really shines; you can feel Shawn Everett's fingerprints all over the music.

Shy is the standout for me. Every individual part of the song is so well executed--the second verse in particular is one of the best sequences of music they've ever made in my opinion. There is not a bad track to be found.

Their debut seems more well-received, I'll try a couple of listenings. Because this one is pretty average yet enjoyable.

While Local Natives were never the most original indie rockers out there, their early work was at least well-written, uplifting, and likable. But they’ve been on a backslide ever since, and “Violet Street” is their most indistinct and commercially slick album yet.
