This an indie record for the ages, a wonderful listen where each song is completely essential to the project as a whole. Midnight is an incredible record.

83
Consequence of Sound

Chock-full of mature songwriting, sometimes hard-hitting and sometimes sweeping from low-lit nadirs to explosive zeniths, Midnight is a brawny performance from a young artist.

80
PopMatters

Midnight fulfills Stef Chura's promise. Broad in scope, its 12 songs cover a range of moods, tones, and energies.

80
Dork

Everything feels a bit bolder and more assured as Stef wraps her irresistible vocals around some heavier and glammier rock sounds that emphasise a thrilling sense of urgency.

80
AllMusic

Chura's in fine form again here -- it wouldn't be an overstatement to call it a doozy.

80
Rolling Stone

Midnight pushes well past the hard-scrabble drive of her 2017 debut Messes, with a bigger, rangier sound.

76
Pitchfork

Chura has mastered the art of playfully selling herself short, but Midnight should put an end to that.

70
Exclaim!

Her voice matches Midnight's offerings perfectly, walking the line between visceral passion and an exhausted shrug.

70
The 405

Stef Chura’s best tracks have no set, predictable amassing of sound that gravitate towards conceited moments of intensity. Instead, on Midnight, they’re structured with multiple, musically inventive phases.

70
No Ripcord

The Detriot, Michigan singer-songwriter uses her reactive emotions with humor and acerbity on her second full-length album, using potent guitar riffs to counterpoint her sharp-witted subtext.

Sounds so refreshingly 90's with a bolder, dense indie rock tracks and shifting energies chanelling Liz Phair. Produced by Will Toledo of Car Seat Headrest, no wonder this would rank as one of the ferocious rock efforts of the year.

rocks harder than her debut but lacks a bit of the quirkiness that set her apart. still a very good record and the cover of "Eyes Without a Face" is impeccable.

She sounds like Julia Jacklin, except not as good... soz... The production from Will is great though as well as the cameo.
