I had a funny review where I gave this a 0, and I had a clever comment but honestly... giving this a 0 was what started this nonsense. We are no better than the bots if we spam albums with 0s.

I’m going to keep reviewing music as I do, and I’m going to stop doing the Devs job. I ask my fellow community to do the same. Let them have their K Pop albums, Ariana Grande albums, Marina albums, and whatever else they desire

It won’t stop us from listening to music and building our ... read more

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE JOKING

Note: anything we can do to prevent future occurances of this magnitude, im all for, it has been getting progressively worse since the year has started and its a damn shame because this is a really amazing site full of a lot of awesome and unique individuals, it just kind of sucks when you put a lot of work into something and try to make it the most authentic representation of everyones taste and music opinions and then something like this happens and completely skews ... read more

While I do think there's a beauty in supporting artists and keeping the legitimacy of a website intact, I do believe the time and energy being used to do so (currently) is in the wrong areas. So below the review are a few links. One is the official AOTY donation page. Because giving a 0 to the album to counteract the "bots" does no service to the site in the long run. Especially towards the people who actually run the site. The second being NARF or the Native Americans ... read more

The ratings from BTS stans seems to have disappeared! I just want to say thank you to Rob because this must've been an absolute nightmare to sort out.

I haven't listened actually listened to this EP yet, hence why there currently isn't a score. Who knows, maybe it's a masterpiece, but these stans really have put me off it. Not all are awful. I actually had a bit of a conversation with one in the comments of this review and one other also started reviewing other stuff, though I don't think they ... read more

Hey new BTS fans/bots! Welcome to the site! A lot of people are coming at you with rightful vitriol, and i'm not gonna be treating you any differently with how you've treated this site recently. However, instead of saying "GET OUT YOUR FUNDAMENTALLY DAMAGING THE CREDIBILITY OF THIS SITE AND STAGNATING IT'S POTENTIAL GROWTH JUST SO YOU CAN CRUSH ON YOUR UWU QUIRKY K-POP GROUP", i'd just like to very quickly say that this site has a lot of people who care very much deeply for the ... read more

[VERY LONG REVIEW AND STATEMENT]

Actual thoughts on album and invasion: (29/100)
I don't know, I just hear generic dance music. That's what I've found in most mainstream K-Pop music, it's like stuff Far East Movement or 2011 Pitbull would make. I know there are people, in fact MANY people who love their music and I appreciate that. But to invade some not-too-big niche album reviewing website with a score of 100 and then never coming back is just against what this website is for. I understand ... read more

Rating before "S T O P" appears

I've tried to give BTS many chances but their sound remains so boring and uninteresting. It makes me feel nothing but pure boredom. Every song here sounds like the basic, formulaic pop (maybe with a bit of rock influences in the mixture but it doesn't really help). Not interested for future BTS projects.

Edit: Here's where they're coming ... read more

@Jhshopeworld - 90% of og aoty users would not agree if ever Map of the Soul: Persona will be the 2019 aoty. this isnt supposed to happen. and in behalf of aoty, i think you all, BTS STANS, went to wrong music website and for you all to know, AOTY is not a fan base website just to rate automatic '100'. it's sad to say that y'all probably never use aoty ever again..

I think that in a time of struggle for the wesbite (my time of having the most likes on a review had to come to an end someday and I guess today was that day...) I just want to say thank you Rob, and my friends (amino gang you know where you are), and all of the fantastic writers (you should also all know who you are and take pride in your work) for making this site fantastic. I'm just some teenager on the internet who likes talking about music, and this site has been a great outlet for ... read more

Honesty, is it? That's what you're looking for? Then I'm happy to oblige

I am no expert on k-pop, but I really don't see what makes this special. I have heard worse (much worse), but this just feels way too processed for my taste. There are inspirational moments sure, but they fail to connect with me on any level due to how general they come across. I appreciate the intent of the message, but it rings hollow. Sure, the songs on PERSONA are big, bombastic, and energetic, but the airtight and ... read more

Funny how the invading BTS stans (or Armys as they call themselves) are blaming active users giving the album a 0 in order to drag down the inflated score, when those Armys are the ones rigging the system and abusing the fact that there’s many of them. People WOULD have give it an honest score if y’all didn’t invade this place. Y’all are the ones who strayed the conversation about this album away from its music qualities and pushed the focus on how fucking annoying BTS ... read more

The reasons why people are hating BTS and giving their album a negative review
1. RACISM, XENOPHOBIA, PREJUDICE/STEREOTYPE
2. TOXIC MASCULINITY
3. IGNORANCE, LAZINESS and STUPIDITY
4. THEY HATE THE FANBASE
5. DIFFERENT TASTE OF MUSIC which is ACCEPTABLE

Alright, I am so fucking sick and tired of these bots, but I don't wanna keep giving 0's because of it, so I'm just going to talk about this project since the overall score will still go down with my rating.

This new BTS EP is NOT GOOD.
In what is BY FAR the worst BTS release, the group and their label takes pretty much anything that made their music tolerable, mature, conceptual or influential and flushed them down the toilet! This doesn't sound like BTS. This sounds like something a rip-off ... read more

A sweet and entertaining album, BTS stay releasing fresh and different music with every new album. Title track Boy With Luv is a cute popsong that truly compliments Halsey's vocals as the feature. Bsides Home and Dionysus showcase how vastly different BTS's sound ranges on one album alone, one being more sultry and the other most similar to rock. This album looks back into bangtans past releases and flips them on their head and, as they've stated that this is an album for the fans, is a joy to ... read more

What I’ve always liked about BTS is that they make the music the want to make. There’s always people complaining and wanting to put them in a box but that’s just not them and they won’t ever listen because BTS are artists and they put their feelings into songs and just love to experiment. From Boy With Luv which is basically a simple love song to Dionysus that reminds a lot of people of Seo Taiji this album is one of the most diverse ones (genre-wise) released this year ... read more

I haven't listened to this nor do I plan to. I haven't rated this nor do I plan to. Just wanted to stop by and ask everyone to stop creating a toxic and unpleasant community where we spend more time shit-posting than actually appreciating, rating and reviewing music. Let your reviews speak towards the music rather than what is reflected by a "bot invasion". I take this site seriously and it would be cool if the dedicated users did the same. Thanks!

this album shows how versatile is their style , with deep poetic lyrics great beats they truly outdid themselves .
this album is like a throw back to an older album where they show how they matured over time and it is a gift to their Fans

A really well made album.

The Intro brings us back to old school bangtan, the title track featuring Halsey is a catchy pop song that manages to stand out among the current pop songs. I especially liked the track Dionysus and Home. I wish they would have added an outro but since it's only an ep we will probably get one in their next full album.
NR
The best. No track is a skip. Every song gives me good feeling. Dionysus could be dangerous to listen to if u next to a person. U might knock them out.

I really like their style. The entire concept of the album and how it is portrayed in the songs lyrics. They have a good delivery, amazing vocals and impressive word play. Really great chemistry among their voices, I enjoyed it and willing to listen to it over and over again

It’s a k-pop group with a rabid fanbase. What else would you have expected? The worst bot invasion of all time? Oh...

EDIT (8 hours later): You have no idea how angry I was during this shit! I tried to calm myself by listening to other music, but I just kept getting stressed. Their best body of work so far following their strong 3rd studio album Love Yourself: Tear.

It’s necessary to read the lyrics and sometimes the explanations done by translators before judging this EP.

The 4 vocalists come out of their shell and deliver new vocal techniques that they’ve never done before. Suga also delivers different type of flows that we first heard in Outro:Tear.

Home is definitely one of the strongest tracks on this EP with beautiful lyrics - a solid rnb ... read more

Amazing album. From the intro until the last song Dionysus, this work was flawlessly done. It was genius for them to revisit their past work and show how it makes them into the humble superstars they are today. BTS never disappoints

A pop excellence, production and content wise. Leaves you happy and content, a good balance between singers and rappers, well blended genres. Funk motives, rock elements, clean instrumentals (especially would like to compliment drums), beautiful voices, good energy. Rnb and hh influence is always welcomed, when it comes to their music, and in this album they delivered not in a new for them way, per se, but in a way where they worked on their weak sides and incorporated changes, showcasing ... read more

I'm just asking all the fans. What makes BTS unique in anyway? What do they do differently that any other Kpop group is doing?

(Also yes, I listened to the full album, thought it was pretty bad. Way to overproduced for there to be any semblance of personality, or reason for existence in the music. BTS has been around for 5 years now right? Why on earth does every single one of their songs sound the exact same? I've heard musicians evolve more track-to-track.)

EDIT: Man, I was to harsh on ... read more

it sounds more consistent and bubbly than their previous EPs, however, it still has the usual issues most kpop projects that get released months after the previous suffer from, it sounds rushed and the mixing and songwriting are not the greatest

what does tell BTS apart form the other groups is their intention to wrap every project with a concept this one being about each member reflecting on fame but unless you're reading the lyrics along or know korean I doubt the album will convey it.

Yes, this album is filled with insights and back stories, and yes, might be hard for people from the outside of the fandom to grasp it all, but there is no excuse for those who haven't even tried to do so. I’ve really enjoyed this album! Is very versatile - with vocals and rap each having their own spotlight at appropriate times. Their title track - Boy with Luv (feat. Halsey) - is so fun to listen to! It reminds me of summertime at a pool. Their intro, throwing it back to one of their older songs, has blown me away! It’s so fun to listen to when you’re driving in the car with the windows rolled down! And each and every B side has shown us different sides of them! Mikrokosmos, ... read more

This album expertly explores the interior and exterior selves of seven mega pop stars, with callbacks to their previous eras. Especially satisfying are tracks 'Home' and 'Dionysus,' the latter being a chaotic treat for the ears and heart.

They really risked it all on this. I have never heard anything like the 7 tracks on this album coming from them. Inovative, genius work, inspirational. And it's only a mini album. I can't wait to see what a full album would get.

Hmmm what’s bothering me is people not giving an honest review. Some of you giving them a low review just because you don’t like the fan base which is unfair. Also why do people keep mentioning bots, quit it and start acknowledge the huge achievements they made. Now I personally love the album and think it’s one of their best. Honestly I was expecting something worse, even so, this is still as Inconsistent as always, rushed, nothing actually resembling.

This is something I would never come to listen again, not because I think is awful but tremendously forgettable to give it more than a listen. (Well, I ended up coming back to this, how ironic).

EDIT: after thinking about this EP, after listening to it several times, I can say this is their most forgettable and safe try so far. Even when they were making edgy music ... read more

decided to actually give this a review. before i do however, stream loona lol this is trash.
Please, to any BTS stans that brigaded this site, how is this any different from late 2000s to early 2010s pop music? It sounds the exact same. There is nothing at all unique about this, which isn't even my issue with it. It's just, not that well performed. I brought up Loona for a reason, and that's because I'd honestly classify Loona and their EPs in the same way, but their performances all over that ... read more

Every aspect of this record is flawed to a certain degree and it sounds extremely rushed and extremely uninspired.

There's so much poor mixing and production across the EP that I had to double check if I was listening to the album with 3 million pre-orders and gargantuan levels of hype, or some Korean kids mixtape.

They could've taken another year and made something of greater purpose and quality, but I guess money talks.

I don't think this is a bad record, there's just too many things to ... read more
