As much as I love this album, I can't help but think about how much better Wildlife is. Without question, this album is amazing, but it's clear that they perfected what they were trying to do here in their next record. As a result, I realized that I didn't enjoy this as much as I probably would have had I listened to this before that album. It's a shame really: I enjoyed this so much but just couldn't stop comparing it to the much better Wildlife.

Great album from post-hardcore americans La Dispute. The quintet follows a widely known formula that was spread throughout the last decade in the USA's garages, with loud overdriven guitars, raw and crumbling vocals, punchy drumming and depressing, highly emotional lyricism, but La Dispute is a stand-alone band among the countless legions of the dying canon, crafting with competence, a very polished and distinct work, with elegant (but loud) instrumentation, energy and incredible poetry, and, ... read more
