Lovely voice, calm vibes, I appreciate it. However, to be blunt, I’ve been bored for the last 47 minutes and 15 seconds. Not for me.
Some voices, some albums, just turn sadness into such a beautifully lost concept, there is a movement within the singer-songwriter community I think as Billie Marten joins "Ex:Re" , "Gia Maragret" , "Emma Ruth Rundle" , "Stef Chura" ,"Julia Jacklin" & "Picastro" to name some of my favorite haunting voices in the genre (and yes, they're all female, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds comes to mind too, ta-da).

A calm compilation of beautifully crafted songs which Marten executed near perfectly.
I am a massive Billie Marten defender because I just think her music is so lovely to listen to. Usually, I don't mind the lack of variety in her stuff but this one is sadly the worst offender of that. There is just a straight shot of pretty similar songs throughout the album. On the positive side, all of the songs sound really good. Her gorgeous vocals and beautiful melodies are still on full show here. Her other albums just have a bit more variety moments than this one and it definitely shows ... read more
