Ethereal beauty burrowed in complete disarray and mayhem, Miss Anthropocene is a natural extension, cryptically eclectic, A.I. dystopian counterpart to Art Angels that sees Grimes fully taking center stage in ways never seen before. The result, ironically, is her most catastrophically intense and compassionately innate record yet.

Let me just say that I don't think I've ever, over the last decade, been so intensely captured and drenched in a Grimes album as much as I was with Miss ... read more

It's common knowledge by now that Miss Anthropocene leaked ages ago, so we've all had plenty of time to formulate an opinion before the official release.
Miss Anthropocene is Grimes at her most comfortable.
It's awesome to hear her so front and center.
Visions (one of my all time favourite albums) had the vocals overshadowed so heavily by the music it was nearly impossible to make out the lyrics or themes without multiple repeat listens.
Art Angels felt like a changing of the guard, more of a ... read more
Grimes' new tales

In her fifth opus, "Miss Anthropocene", the Canadian cyber-prophet embraces the future until the end of humanity, even going beyond the album format.

An oracle that is both fascinating and repulsive, Grimes is the incarnation of this arrow pointing to space, planted on the edge between science fiction and contemporary reality. A multimedia artist who pilots her productions and music videos from A to Z, Claire Boucher has gone from underground to mainstream in ... read more
- Hello, Humans. You have been selected, or shall I say invited, out of the 8 billion people on Earth because you shall know something, that no one should know because if other humans like you will know about this, it will cause and uproar never seen as strong and powerful before. As you know, Artificial Intelligence, also known as A.I., is going to take over the world in the near future. It is found everywhere. In your homes. In schools. In Universities and Colleges. And on your fingertips: ... read more
Grimes leaps over genre across the spectrum on Miss Anthropocene, which as often occurs lumps this album into the bloated category of art pop. This moniker generally encompasses a wide span of music that blends traditional pop elements, from catchy hooks to soaring choruses, with more eclectic and experimental elements. If that is the end-all of genre definition, then that might be the tightest fit this album can come to.

However, Grimes, or Claire Boucher, by no means feels bound to a genre ... read more
Miss Anthropocene is not as innovative as its predecessor, but it shows how much music needs artists like Grime to continue to develop and renew itself, through the creativity and modernity it still shows here.

Caricatured slightly, Miss Anthropocene is her most "pop" album, like the last Tame Impala, but that's the continuity of Art Angels, and although it's based on foundations that won't take you out of your comfort zone for a second, this new album still has a lot to offer you. ... read more

Grimes had to reach a really high bar, to recover the 5 blank years she had since the fantastic Art Angels, and to properly justify the directional hint on that album with a worthwhile take. Thankfully, she has passed the test with flying colours.

I feel like Art Angels and this album over here seem a lot like Flower Boy and IGOR from a certain point of view: Miss Anthropocene displays the full image of ethereal, intense pop that Grimes only hinted on Art Angels, is a lot shorter and works ... read more
By simply looking at a grimes cover art one can get a pretty good understanding of what is going to take place after pressing play on the record. This unique style of cover art really began on her album Visions, with that strange sketch and column of obscure words and meanings, this continued on “Art Angels”, and is once again prevalent on her latest effort Miss Anthropocene. This time around the presentation consists of what seems to be some odd alien software program, fully ... read more
This is the best sounding, outdated sounding album I’ve heard in a while
Miss Anthropocene aint just a grimes album. it’s a lifestyle, a reason to breathe, an escape from this cruel world filled with theives. it’s art, the first gift you open on christmas, a hug from a loved one, it’s everything you ever wanted, it’s everything you will ever need

The years since "Art Angels" have been quite hefty for Grimes. Especially when she started dating the founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, and is even becoming a mother in a few months! So now that her fifth full-length has come out, I think she handled all of this pretty well.

"Miss Anthropocene" is a concept album that explores a futuristic world that's bleak and populated by A.I. I'm just gonna say this right off the bat, I wish this was explored further. There are times where ... read more
While some elements of this album came off as incredibly jarring when I first heard it, after a while they, as well as this album as a while, did end up growing on me. With a very chilling electronic sound and a somewhat dystopian feel to it, Miss Anthropocene sets itself as what I'd say is one of the most intriguing and well made pop albums of the year so far. It's a pop album a thousand years into the future; you know, once the world is dominated by A.I and our robot musicians are starting to ... read more
So Grimes' newest album, described as her final "earth album" whatever that means is an album that upon first listen I was neutral on, but upon further listening I can now say I have fallen in love with this really well-crafted doomsday inspired album. This album is massive in scope and theme and Grimes pulls it off really really well.

This album gives off a feeling of foreboding doom, but it makes it fun, while Grimes is quite well known for being... Grimes? This is an album I ... read more
Upon revisit, super confused theming keep this from staying up with Art Angels and Visions. Miss Anthropocene has two of my absolute favorite Grimes songs ever between the twisted insanity of My Name Is Dark and how naked Delete Forever feels, but lyrically this album is a mess. While I still find the dark, apocalyptic atmosphere intoxicating, whenever I try to dig deeper, I come up with frustratingly little. c’s convoluted and baffling explanations on genius among other sites don’t ... read more
Grimes is undoubtedly one of the best artists of this decade and this album only confirms it. In my opinion this is her best and most coherent album so far.
Each song brings something new and fresh to her discography.
Beautiful vocals and unique production make this album sound like nothing else in music industry.
Grimes is the artist who follows her path and makes music with which I lack comparisons because what sounds like Grimes? Nothing really comes to my mind. While entering the world of ... read more
She don't miss!

As a certified Grimes Orbiter™, it is my duty to say this album is indeed 𝕓𝕒𝕤𝕖𝕕.

EDIT: Fuck Melon
As if I had any doubt in my mind, Grimes delivers yet another great album. I mean this thing makes you feel like you’re in a futuristic alien nightclub

Well, we have another Grimes album(!) and with her new relationship with Elon Musk, she's not in it for the money anymore. You would think she's strictly here bc its her passion, but Miss Anthropocene lacks a whole lot of it. At times the vocals can be beautiful and powerful, but for the majority of this record she seems uninterested and phoned in. The production is good as always but she implements the same tired and played out electronic cliches. The songwriting can be inconsistent at times ... read more
Ahh, yes... The art of waiting until the album officially releases so you can listen to it. Beautiful.

While casual old me didn't have any expectations with the one album that leaked months before its release, it is inevitable to preach about Grimes' influence in art pop/electronic music. Between my current approach in k-pop music on the site and my darling past in Discord with... Rap reviews... I don't need to specify which route my content will be going through - but maybe Grimes should have ... read more
This must be what Grimes sounds like to people who are listening to Grimes
She delivered. Probably her most diverse album, and she's giving birth in like 2 months to a man that by that time probably becomes the richest man in the world. She knows whats she's doing in every sense
The thing I love most about Grimes' music is that it feels like it's own universe. Her different vocal performances are engaging, enjoyable and quite often quite ethereal thanks to the amazing vocal processing that happens, which give her that feeling of floating through the sky. On "Miss Anthropocene", I was delighted to have all of these elements back, along with the signature dreamy production that just sounds so damn clean, unique and futuristic. But unfortunately, I couldn't ... read more
