By 2014 my affinity and affection for Manchester Orchestra had mostly waned. I had played their first three albums to death by this point, and so by the time their fourth album Cope was released I had lost my ferocious interest. I still listened to Cope, of course, but there just wasn't the same hype I had for their initial releases. This alone makes this album lack a certain level of nostalgia for me as a listener, personally speaking.

This album reminds me of the infamous Fargo "wood chipper scene", except instead of Buscemi, alternative rock music has been put into the machine, and a poppy bloody mess comes out the other end... or something, i don't know, this album doesn't really deserve clever metaphors.

I liked "Chose You" and i think the album as a whole is decent enough, but I did not like the vocals, and I think the album would have been a lot better, if the songs had been scaled back a bit.

the production is terrible. The songs are all decent, nothing as notable as pale black eye or anything from the first two albums. I'm know their good live and i'm sure after seeing them again I'll have a greater appreciation for this album
