Drowned in Sound

With So It Goes, Wiki’s enabled his bandmates to rise to his level, and the confidence they ooze on this tour de force is staggering.

Spin

Ratking embodies an organic nostalgia: one that feels less studious (*cough* Joey Bada$$) or trendy (*emoji eyes* A$AP), than a product of listening to a whole lot of shit growing up.

AllMusic

So It Goes is as pure as they come, so strap in and get ready from some rich rewards and hard truths because this one returns hip-hop to a time when it was "dangerous," and in the best, most progressive way possible.

Exclaim!

Over a kaleidoscope of soundscapes equally indebted to electronic, indie rock and the traditional rap blueprint, Wiki and Hak spit hasty bars telling the story of young men entrenched in the streets of New York City in the here and now.

The 405

So It Goes leaves a refreshing aftertaste on the musical palette and feeds the masses a full course of east coast education.

NME

Ratking’s debut simultaneously sits within the lineage of NYC music, and strives to break out of it.

DIY

The focus occasionally drifts, and it’s hard to interpret everything that’s said, even if it’s always easy to appreciate. Taken as a whole it’s hard to digest.

I reviewed this a while ago, but i feel like i was too stingy with my rating (i gave it a 87). I genuinely think this is a classic for experimental hip hop. It’s so much fun while also being gritty. If you like artists like JPEGMAFIA, clipping., Danny Brown, Injury Reserve and Death Grips there’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll enjoy this.

Thank you @PelicanManners for the recommendation :D
I really enjoyed the album, the production is good, raw, and wild. Wiki's verses and Hak's verses are vivid and raw.
Overall RATKING sounds composed, clear, and fresh here.
Very good album, worth a try especially when you want to get into experimental hip-hop more.

Album recommended by PelicanManners!

First off, I adore this production. It's zestful and vivacious that goes well with both rappers. I didn't know what to expect from this album and I'm happy whatever I received as it's great and refreshing. I liked every song with very few songs that I wasn't impressed with. Songs like Snow Beach with its insane beat switch are ingenious and Puerto Rican Judo was so infectious and the longer I listened to it the more I adored it. Track 2, 6 and 7 deserve ... read more
