(update: Oh no the bots have invaded. It's Icarus Falls all over again! GET ROB ON THE PHONE!)

So you're telling me MARINA went on a 4-year hiatus only to come back with this? And this is supposed to be the first half of a double-album too?! Most fans must be pretty disappointed by this cause this more mature album sounds so flat and uninspired! Even the better tracks sound like leftovers. Edit : hoooo boyyyy another bot invasion. This time without a hilarious troll ringleader. Join the counter revolution!

At the start of this album cycle, I had faith. That maybe, just maybe, Marina could live up to all the unnecessary hype I gave her last year (as per usual, apologies to anyone within a 50 mile radius of me during that time). [EDIT] I think we won so im going back to my og rating
An underwhelming listen. I was hoping for either more of a live band / new-wave sound like FROOT or more experimentation. Overall, this is a slightly above average pop album. While her vocal delivery is good, the melodies are very uniform and the songs often follow the same standard pop song formula. Although the production tones in with the buoyancy of the album, at times it becomes overdone and tiring ("Enjoy Your Life," "True,"). It is clear overall that Clean Bandit has ... read more
