Now THIS is some good shit. I personally wasn’t the biggest fan of Slanted and Enchanted, and while I liked it, I thought there was room to grow, and this album feels like exactly that. With only a few exceptions, pretty much every song on this album is extremely catchy, memorable, and really fun. Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain is a triumphant follow up album for Pavement for similar reasons to why Slanted and Enchanted captured the attention of the underground scene. Stephen Malkmus and company don't completely lose those lo-fi edges that tuned people in to begin with, still having a frenzied energy to many songs and never quite settling in place.
