Pretty sure Shook Ones, Pt. II is one of the greatest hip-hop songs ever made.

A classic continues to stay a classic even after 24 years. Everything about this record is prefect. The beats are grimy and had me nodding my head all the way through. Havoc (who produced the whole thing at 19), just didn’t miss with his sample selection. The verses from both havoc and prodigy told a story about the crime life and everything that comes with it. From shootouts to death of friends to trips to upstate New York, a vivid picture is painted of the life they lived. With features ... read more

One of the absolute best hip-hop classics of the 90s. Immaculate bars and production by Prodigy and Q-Tip. Numerous classic songs: Shook Ones Pt. II, Give Up The Goods (Just Step), Survival of the Fittest, Temperature's Rising, Trife Life, Up North Trip

It is a classic. Ambient production and rapping with substance fits really well together on this album. Also great chemistry between these two.

The epitome of dark hip hop? By all means, absolutely. See, "Shook Ones Pt. II" is SO GOOD itself, that I'd probably give the album and 85/100 alone just for it. It truly is one of the best hip hop singles of all time; in fact, it makes my top ten. It's gotta. It has so much replay (re-listen) value and the overall vibes it gives are genius. "Survival of the Fittest" is superb as well. When I saw this one day in an entertainment store, I bought it immediately - something I ... read more

Classic. Havoc's beats are unparalleled, Prodigy's lyricism describes their situation and lifestyle crystal clear without quality loss techniquewise. The chemistry between these two MCs might be the best I've ever heard.
Every beat is 10/10. Gritty, grimy, dark.

An album that will forever polarize opinions. Considered an absolute classic and a top 10 album by many, there are also those who find it inaccessible because of the ‘too’ gritty and dark nature of the album. Wherever you stand, there can be no denying this is a landmark album, both production-wise and lyrically. Mobb Deep brought their A-game on their second album and The Infamous will always be seen as one of the most important mid-90s East Coast albums.

These lyrics come straight from their hearts. This is a legendary album. I love how there's some chill songs while the attitude and lyrics are mostly negative.

This is classic hip hop at its finest. The beats here are so smooth and the lyrical flow is maddening and unforgettable. A masterpiece of 90s hip hop with hard hitting tracks such as “Survival of the Fittest” and “Shook Ones Pt. II”, some of the best written rap songs of its time.

One of my favorite Hip Hop albums of all time. Q-Tip production and some of the best flows to come out of the 90s make this a truly great album. Big Noyd is all over this thing; Q-Tip, Nas, Ghostface, and Raekwon all deliver fantastic verses when they were in their primes; Crystal Johnson's voice is angelic on Temperature's Rising. Rest in peace, Prodigy, knowing that your legacy has not been ignored.

The Infamous is the darkest and grittiest hip-hop album ever made. Period. Prodigy and Havoc masterfully depict street life in Queensbridge. Everything about it is so heartbreakingly raw, from the passionate lyrics, to the banging beats, to the rapper’s young and flawed voices, to the various preludes scattered throughout the course of the hour-long album.

Let’s start off by talking about the lyrics. Both Prodigy and Havoc have a very direct form of lyricism and tend to not ... read more

Another pioneering East Coast Hip-Hop album from duo Havoc and Prodigy, Mobb Deep paints one of the most violent pictures of their crime-filled life with guns and street wars.

Mobb Deep were (and still are, even after disbanded) one of the most hardcore groups of the east coast gangsta rap scene of the 90s. The duo had started their riot in the early 90s, and by the time their second album, The Infamous, hit the shelves, they had already been elevated to a new status of relevance. With the incomparable jazzy sampled-beats and vertiginous rhymes, the infamous duo helped solidify the whole genre with a massive contribution that included five-star guest appearances ... read more
