Does anybody remember Guitar Hero? That one game where you have the plastic guitar and you try to hit notes flying at you on the "highway"?

Well, I have the GH community to thank for this one.

I would have never known of this band if it wasn't for them. Heck, I wouldn't even of known this album was coming out! But, I'm so glad I did. This album is absolutely incredible. This is most likely going to be my album of the year at this point.

Bro this album slaps man. It's jam-packed with tons of odd-time signatures. I can understand why some people don't enjoy this kind of music. It's super dense and is definitely an acquired taste. My critique would be that the lyrics are a bit cliché at times, but they work well with the jazz-inspired style. Other than that, I feel like some of the transitions and key changes are a bit ballsy, and could have turned some people away.


This is a weird one for me. It started hot and then it just fucking dragged on. I loved the sort of Jazz meets Coheed & Cambria vibe I felt when it started. It was fun, fast paced, and zany as hell. Then it just became a bit formulaic. I’ll revisit this soon to see if maybe my stupid ass roommate shitting all over this ruined this listening of it or not.

this album grew on me a lot especially after seeing them live in denver. the experimentation on this album is very admirable, but in some ways suffers the same fate as stranger heads prevail.

songs such as fxmldr, everyday ghosts, swarm, and terraformer represent the classic thank you scientist that i’ve come to love
