There was really only one theme at work here -- the brilliancy of EPMD, or the worthlessness of sucker MCs -- but every note of Strictly Business proved their claims.

1988 might be one of the most important years in hip-hop, with both Public Enemy's "It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back," and N.W.A.'s "Straight Outta Compton" released, both essential albums for the time. When you Google the hip-hop albums of 1988, one album appears between them: EPMD's "Strictly Business."
