Did King Crimson ever get as close to pure filler in their golden run as In The Wake Of Poseidon?
It should probably be noted before I get any further that I don't dislike In The Wake Of Poseidon at all. But in a discography as flawless as Crimsons 1969-1974 run, this is the album that easily sticks out the most as aimless and pointless. And regardless of how understandable that may be, it's undeniably disappointing. I don't think I've come across a single person that hasn't come across this ... read more
“In the Wake of Poseidon” is a great early Prog album, that will unfortunately always be in the shadow of the superior predecessor, and in many ways older brother: “In the Court of The Crimson King”. i really like the cover art and how it goes with the music and i also really like the story theyre telling and how they are telling it its a really good album not as good as the debut but still really good and fun
Favourite Track has to be Pictures of a City.
This record doesn't get much recognition as the majority of the records in the classic era and I feel like that's for good reason. You either get a lot of the same ideas from the debut but weaker or songs like Cat Food and Devils Triangle that don't feel rehashed that well. Other than the very impressive use of dynamics on Devils Triangle that one doesn't feel as impressive as it should be.
