i honestly don't even know what to say about this. confield is arguably autechre at their most cold and "emotional" sounding, and it is pulled off flawlessly. there isn't a second of non-essential content on here (well, maybe except for Eidetic Casein, but even that obviously isn't a truly "bad" track.) this was the album that made me truly realize i would grow to love autechre, and i honestly never get tired of it. i could spend several paragraphs gushing about each track, ... read more

Confield is a constant battle with the listener, at least at first. Autechre challenges both the limitations of conventional electronic music, and music in general, while still being undoubtedly and wholeheartedly musical. It might seem like gibberish your first time through, but listen closer next time and you'll find the sublte melodic elements that weave the tracks together.
