Miles Ahead is Davis' second album released on the Columbia label and his first collaboration with arranger Gil Evans since the Birth Of The Cool sessions. It shows Miles picking up the flugelhorn for the first (and I think the only) time in his career whilst also being backed by 19 musicians, giving this a very unique sound in his otherwise samey early discography.

Miles Davis’ “Miles Ahead” Is A Collaboration With Conductor Gil Evans And His 19+ Players & This Record Is Easily One Of The Best Records Early Davis Has To Offer!

The Record Is So Big In It’s Presentation With All Of These Instruments Being So Grand & Gargantuan! The Different Mesh Of Instruments Make For An Incredibly Cohesive And All Around Great Experience.

Downgrade from the previus collaboration, its still good but I wont be coming back to check it out just because he has a lot of better proyects.

It doesn't reach the highs of the previous 2 albums but I like that this is more of an orchestral sound than what Miles Davis has done before and I appreciate the experimentation.
