The instrumentals are great on this album! Tracks like “Foam”, “Coca Cola”, and “Melty Caramelo” perfectly show this. The druggy vibe and aesthetic of the album is also amazing and it really helps it be a little more fun and vibrant. But it pains me to say that the lyrics on this love album are just extremely mediocre. And not only that but the vocals are a little underwhelming. A colorful new indie band that range in sounds both in the familiar and the unheard. They feel like one of those bands that most people can get behind if they give them the chance.
Chicago psych rock quartet Divino Niño's newest effort is a wistful, summery treat that combines chill-wave, beach pop, classic indie, soft rock, and Latin pop into a lush bedroom pop affair with a bilingual twist. Just listen to the melodic swing of Coca Cola, or the bittersweet Maria and that unexpected woozy nod to a quintessential city pop track, Plastic Love. Definitely fitting to a relaxed week night, after a stressful day at work. Music for softies indeed.
