On stage they bring any house down, during freestyle sessions they are likely lights out but when it came to putting a project together there simply isn’t enough Big Apple to go around.

Despite their intentions, the album still often feels like wandering into a pointless cypher.

Under The Radar

There is too much talent in Beast Coast for Escape from New York to be outright bad but ultimately it is a symptom of the city's lost relevance rather than a cure.

Thought it would be mediocre; turned out to be worse...

The title of the album is perfect; they literally escape from New York stylistically and leave most of their actual qualities behind...

We got generic, trendy production and aesthetics which appeal way more to the Flatbush Zombies than the other members...a lot of the album actually plays around the FBZ-aesthetic and their gimmicks, which represses the personality of Joey, Underachievers and Pro Era-members to the point where they're ... read more

Many talented artists together ≠ great music

But while I agree that Escape From New York is not interesting and not anywhere near what they could have done, is it really terrible? To me, it’s just painfully boring and pointless. The production is pretty generic (even if it is decent most of the time), and nobody really stands out. It just blends into the background. The second half is also extremely boring and makes this album a tough listen all the way through. With that being said, ... read more

Personally Escape From New York fully lived up to my expectations. Great production, amazing chemistry, a bunch of bangers and more melodic cuts. That's everything that I wanted, and that's what I received. I also need to mention, that since the release of Coast/Clear in April 2019, it hasn't left my Top-25 favorite tracks for a second.

Pretty big letdown

Nothing on this album is unlistenable, but its just not good. When I mean nothing stands out I mean nothing stands out. Its just messy, a bunch of really talented rappers just rapping about nothing over beats that get pretty forgettable. I don't get the point of a lot of these songs. One More Round is cool, I dig the vibe of it. Meech has some good performances on this at least.

Favorite Songs: One More Round, Left Hand, Last Choir
