The intial impenetrableness of the music could pose a problem, but not a large one at all when considering it’s intended playing location - the common, house or garden party.

Their debut is crisp electro-rock with a big hook in every tune, and lyrics that present them as a bunch of civic-minded young fellows.

Anything more than a superficial engagement with the album is likely to result in frustration and disappointment. They sound nice, look nice but you’d be pressed to find any substance.

These bare-chested electro-funksters have birthed an abomination of a debut album, informed by all the most disgusting musical faux pas of the past 20 years.

‘& The Boom’ sounds incredibly home-made, all the songs being so similar it feels like listening to one really long song rather than an album. Radio 1 love them, and it’s been described as ‘the sound of the summer’… thank fuck it’s winter.

Corporate, bandwagon jumping, money grabbing opportunism is one thing but this is just an insult to the whole nation, a joke nobody seems to have caught onto.
