Spin

Damage picks up where Co Flow left off, slamming jagged boom-baps into computer-cash squeals like a recordo-on-spec score for a Blade Runner sequel set in Brooklyn.

No doubt, El-P has delivered both what we'd hoped for and what we need right now. This is his statement for these times, and it's one of the finest hip-hop records I've heard all year.

Whether he's disparaging Disney or kicking sex raps, El-P propels his dense poetry with some serious conviction. He comes out swinging wildly, but Fantastic Damage has plenty of knockout force.

I believe that without this album and El-P production works throughout his early career, we ... read more
