After Miles was approached by Columbia to join their label, he took his quintet and recorded a ton of material in just two days to make up the final four releases he had in his contract with Prestige so he could go on to do better things. Miles Davis Deep Dive: #19

I took a bit of time off from this journey to knock out some shorter discography rankings and revitalize my jazz stamina bar. Much like 'Round About Midnight, "Cookin'" opens with its best track - and said opener is the better of the two. I guess it's only fitting for it to be titled "My Funny Valentine", since it's nothing short of lovely.
