I liked Country Squire throughout, but I didn't love it as much as I thought I would. 2019 has been a pretty great year for country music; Orville Peck's Pony is one of my favorite albums of the year, Lil Nas X has been opening millions of people up to the idea of country music, and there have been tons of great albums released in the alt-country and americana spheres. Country Squire seemed to be one of 'em, and while I guess it is, it's not as great as I expected.

Pretty sure I could go to the one bar in my hometown right now and hear some dudes playing songs that sound *just* like this.

Rating will probably go up - one to watch
Awesome cover, it's unfortunate that the music is soooo lazy. Like he takes everything made with old rooted country music (it's not surprising to see that he comes from Kentucky), cleans it to the point that 3/4 of the album sounds the same.

It's enjoyable for sure but extremely limited in term of sounds. There is plenty of modern country albums that put more to the table (Van lear rose, a sailor's guide to earth, the two albums of margo price, etc)
While a step above the rest in the contemporary country scene, Tyler Childers does little to impress and fails to take advantage of his ability to be a real standout even outside of country.
