This is the type of album Denzel Curry was destined to make. Since starting in Rvidxr Klvn back in 2011, the South Florida flavor has come and gone from project to project. ZUU is 100%, unapologetically Miami Dade. This is my AOTY so far because there isn't a single dud. Speedboat is my least favorite track but its far from weak. This is the album I'm gonna be bumping all summer.

H01Y 7UCK! This album has me SWEATING!

So, Denzel. One of the most talked about 'underrated' rappers in recent memory, nearly every record this man touches turns to bangerific gold. From the ambitious and experimental TA13OO to the filled to the brim banger fest of 32 Zel, ever album this man has made has been at lest talked about every time it rolls around. I mean, me staying up at 1AM in the morning just to hear a album is something that I didn't really And, after the Goliath of creativity ... read more

not hyped

after first listen: ok so i expected this to suck and i was right. i dont like this. the first half outweighs the second like an elephant and a tick on a scale, denzel’s singing is the equivelant to a fucking donkey and the skits are as bad as the ken kaniff skits. i wanted to be wrong but ffs zel. this shit is his most disorganized, most disoriented, most pointless release yet. seriously, why was this made? and can we talk about just how god awful shake 88 is? thats like the ... read more

Painfully generic and mediocre, I'm very disappointed.

These lyrics were really one dimensional and the flows weren't up to Denzel's standards at all.

This made me appreciate Imperial a lot more.

The new Denzel Curry project is full of bangers that don't really amaze me technically but they sure are fun. The great production, the catchy hooks, the flavored beats and the agressive performances compensate for the simplicity of the songwriting in some tracks and the bad skits.

ZUU ain't listening to this? ZUU missing out big time.

Ok, I might've just won the award for the worst pun on AOTY, but I don't fucking care. This fucking shit got me so hyped up. You don't understand how much energy I got from this album. Usually, I'll be sitting or lying down whenever listening to these new releases, but I just couldn't. I was constantly moving because this album couldn't contain me. This gave me memories to the Zillakami concert I went to last December when Denzel showed up ... read more

How the hell do you give this shit a 2/10?

Edit: I showed this to my dad who dislikes hip hop, and I now understand why loool

Luckily my boredom is minimum here. Production is amazing but it is extremely forgettable and poorly written. Despite this it is extremely fun. It succeeds as a fun album that isn’t supposed to be put under a microscope.

Great

Edit: Fuck it. I can't stop playing this thing. It's such a fun vibe, and even though it exudes the same qualities as a generic rap project, there's this sense of homesickness in here that goes way deeper than the ideas of modern trap. Wasn't expecting this to get better.

Original Score: 83, Great

On my first listen, I was skeptical at whether or not this album was necessarily worthy of my 'Great' title. The interludes threw me off a bit, and some of the tracks came off materialistic ... read more

Honestly, the only reason I'm disappointed is cause this 13ANGERZ album has 12 TRACKS AND NOT 13!! ...And there's my random joke of the day!

Review:
On a more serious note, ZUU didn't click with me. Everytime I listened to it, I forgot about how most of the tracks sounded like. Obviously, I expected this album to be a set of trap bangers with not a lot of depth to it, but I definitely was still very excited for it. Denzel is one of my fav current rappers at the moment and for good reasons! He ... read more

If I'm going to be 100% honest I don't know why people like this but not the Comethazane album. In my eyes their pretty much equal. Just simple fun tunes. nothing else to them.

Maybe I'm uncultured, but this is just really unimpressive to me, especially after TA1300

EDIT: Actually this kinda sucks. Like it's so boring. Spotify played an Amine song after the album was over and I didn't even notice. I keep trying to see if there's anything interesting but I don't think there is. Why is there ... read more

ZUU? More like Banger: The Album! Because that's basically what this is, an album full of absolute bangers.

I didn't go in expecting to be blown away like I was by TA13OO and Imperial, yet I was still pleasantly surprised. Every one of these songs are so much fun and, as stated before, are just bangers. The production on this thing is fantastic, and Denzel's flows are great. This is a great album to put on if you just want a fun time!

However, I don't think this is anywhere near the quality ... read more

I'll take it for what it is. A collection of bangers. Something to blast during the summer (or winter, for me.) There's a feeling of simplicity to this album that's just so satisfying, which is also what makes the cover art so amazing in my opinion. The hooks are super catchy, the production is great throughout the album, and it's definitely Denzel's most exciting and fun sounding album to date. It may not be another TA13OO, but like everyone else has said, that's not what it's trying to be. ... read more

+ Majin Buu and Bojack references

but seriously, other than that--
this an exceptionally entertaining young millennial new age hip-hop album.
I know that makes me sound old as fuck and though I'm only slightly older than Denzel I feel like he is much more in tune with what the younger generation is searching for; instant gratification.

There are virtually zero hip-hop albums from people my age that I like or respect but, although I rarely listen to him, Denzel Curry could potentially be a ... read more

GREAT

Can we all agree that Denzel Curry has adapted to the modern hip hop climate the best out of all the bass-boosted Florida rappers from 2015? ZUU's got everything I want in a rap album; hard beats, memorable rapping, lyrics that aren't total shit, a good Rick Ross feature. I'm liking this more than TA13OO, honestly.

I think everyone who’s complaining about this album not being as good as TABOO are missing the point. You can tell that he didn’t have that intent in mind.

I remember seeing a review for Ventura discussing about how Anderson Paak had finally gotten to the point he wanted to be as an artist, garnering both the fame and good reception of his music. Ventura was, in a sense, a victory lap for him; he didn’t have anything more to prove, and in turn, he rewarded us with a quick ... read more

I love that he explores new styles with every album cuz it weeds out the fair-weather fans. TA1300 was my least favorite; its crossover appeal & transition to rap for white teens irked me for that exact reason. I knew it would attract new fans who wouldn't bother fucking w the old shit / wouldn't get it. The early fans like myself will appreciate his versatility and return to form. He find himself in a great place here, a sound closer to Imperial, but more on 2019's wave, for superb results.

Ladies and gentlemen, here we have Zel's fourth album; second of which came out in less than a year after its predecessor, the masterpiece and greatest album of 2018, TA13OO.

OH DAMN!

I don't know why I was expecting Denzel to drop one of the best albums of the decade. But I'm sure it'll happen one day

This doesn't feel like a legit release, more like an EP hyping up another project. The singles didn't give me the feeling that this was as ambitious as TA1300 or Imperial.

Nonetheless, it has some of his best bangers.

(Also he mentions Majin Buu in ZUU, I'm like a HUUUGE Dragon Ball fan)

All the big MCs want the most expensive, stylish and good lookin’ rides. Zel has a car straight out of the 90’s and he ain’t bitchin’. Y’all gotta learn from this dude.

Right from the title track, you know you’re in for some 13ANGERZ! It isn’t nearly as tight as “TA13OO”, which I still think is the best trap rap album to date, and the interludes barely serve a purpose. But “ZUU” is still one hell of a fun record with great ... read more

There is a closed circle of albums that enchant by their vigor, their energy, and the violence of their approach. With "ZUU", Denzel Curry joins this circle: he is a child of the Raider Klan, one of the most talented rapper of the Soundcloud generation, and he has always evolved in the margins of codes, driven by an overflowing creativity. "TA1300", released in 2018 demonstrated his desire to give birth to a classic, Zel is close to this ambition, a year later, with ... read more

ZUU is an album that pays homage to Denzel’s Florida roots, while still being pretty damn good. It however is held back by the inherent disadvantages the style introduces, mostly manifested in lyrical vapidity. It is unimportant though, the clever one liners and fun atmosphere more than make up for this general lack of important subject matter. Overall I enjoyed this album of bangers and thought it was a worthy little project to hold us over.

After an amazing conceptual masterpiece like TA13OO, i knew it was going to be relatively difficult for Denzel to top it. This is still a very respectable effort.

Every song goes in, which is something that a lot of rap albums strive to do. While none of them really stand out from one another or blow me away, they were all very fun and energizing and of course well produced.

Im completely satisfied with this release in all honesty. I would put it at his 3rd best album for right now but it ... read more

My drunk ass is really liking this, review tomorow!!

Edit: My sober ass likes this album too! This album is not as ambitious as TA13OO when it comes to having a meaningful concept, but it still tackles subjects relating to Denzel Curry’s experiences in Miami. What this album does nail is the fact it has a lot of bangers and I mean a LOT of bangers. This album is not trying to be meaningful or lyrical, it is all about fun and hard songs. Looking back, I don’t see how I preferred this to Imperial on first listen (please don’t kill me), but just like the 13 EP it has shrunk on me a bit, but I still find it great. I never expected this to be as good lyrically as Imperial or as conceptual as TA13OO, mainly because of Speedboat and the album cover. He's finally tossed out the chronicle urgency that had constantly mantled the exterior of his works since Nostalgia 64. ZUU has landed it's place in Zel's discography for no purpose other than the sake of turning the fuck up.

"𝘋𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘭𝘣𝘶𝘮𝘴, 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥", declared by now Flextron 6 Billion. The standards put for him have been complicated whether the go-hard ... read more

For a 30 minute project, this wasn't all that bad for my first Denzel Curry listen. I was getting a little tuned out during the middle of the album, but the beginning and the end was pretty much the highlight for me on this record.

As the host of the Grammys is never the star of the show, and, majority of the time, not even worth paying attention to, such is Denzel Curry's presence on ZUU. His "consciousness" gets in the way of several thoughtful beats, and the only time your ears will perk for a verse is when ZUU's features generously make their appearances.

After the momentum of TA13OO from last year, Denzel Curry followed that up with what I would say is a very distinct release that shows the range of music that the artist is able to put together.

The word being thrown around is bangers, and its hard not to agree with the term. The energy never leaves this album as each track hits hard with blistering beats and Denzel's impressive rap delivery.

My other thought is the major difference between this and TA13OO, where last years release had far ... read more

Wow, every beat on this thing is amazing. They're all pretty unique as well. This is a very fun album, easily the most fun he has done so far. His singing also seems to have improved a lot since Taboo even though his singing there wasn't even an issue. Though, this definitely is not as good as Taboo. The main reason being the length. Technically, there are obly 9 songs because there are 3 interludes which was a stupid idea for such a short album. Also all three of them appear in the last ... read more

Amazing first leg, the second slightly decreases in quality.

Definitely his weakest album since Nostalgic 64, but overall a summer time dirty south mixed with some west-coast influence bop. Denzel curry is one of the most consistent rap artist working today, each of his record primarily on Tab00 grows on me with each listen. However, as much as some tracks on here slaps harder than an angry black mom who found out you failing your grades at school other tracks on here feel like your standard trap beats without being too fleshed out.
