Her best album in a while. Not as big of an improvement as people advertise though. The second half doesn’t live up to the first.

Middle of the road for me as far as Tori goes. Half of UG is very strong and the other half is okay. Giants Rolling Pin is high camp. Wild Way is probably one of her most beautiful songs ever. Definitely a mixed bag you’ll want to unpack.
Returning to form after several experimental years, Geraldines is a reflection of a woman turning 50 and her emotional state of aging and going through menopause. Though lyrically it sometimes falters the overall result is beautiful collection of songs which (thank goodness) is not overly long.

I like this album, though remain unconvinced by the 'return to form' fanfare it garnered in the press. It is, however, a step in the right direction and hints at what may still be to come from Amos. The song arrangements are generally straightforward and unfussy, pushing her grossly underrated piano skills to the fore, just as on her earlier LPs.
