HipHopDX

Diaspora, his official sophomore offering, takes those deep cuts to the next level and renders his best work to date; operating as a play in two acts.

Clash

GoldLink refuses to be one-dimensional here, offering up his dynamic and improved flow, as well as the vulnerability and edgy appeal that bubbles up throughout this project.

Highsnobiety

Diaspora doesn’t reach the highs of those records [To Pimp a Butterfly, Flower Boy] because its concern is more sound than story, but it further cements that GoldLink can conceive of and execute his ideas better than most anyone in hip-hop today.

Exclaim!

Aan album as wide ranging, far flung, eclectic, and richly satisfying as its name implies.

Pitchfork

GoldLink’s second album stretches far beyond his home in the DMV. It is a confluence of black music; hip-hop tracing its way back to the universal sounds of Africa.

I mean it's got some great production, the hooks are somewhat catchy and the features are nice but a lot of this album sinks into the background of whatever I'm doing. Most of the time the features just completely fly past me, with ... read more

Why does he sound like the featured guest on all his own tracks?

The best thing you can say about Diaspora is that it tries to be fun. Unfortunately the lack of vocal power, uninteresting lyrics, and only mildly engaging choice of beats means we don't get there to often. U say is pretty solid though
