AllMusic

Polymer is one of Plaid's most successful hybrids of organic and artificial sounds, matching its ambitious themes and concepts with enlightening music.

Exclaim!

Polymer is their darkest record to date.

PopMatters

By successfully tying the tracks to culturally relevant, apposite themes, it's also one of their most strikingly accomplished albums to date.

Polymer finds them settling into moods that are reminiscent of Warp’s golden age, with the snatches of goofiness that always gave Plaid their edge.

Heavy, visceral IDM release and the 10th for the UK duo who works with such dynamism and complex beats laid with bouncy, urgent atmosphere amplified with dance-able electro beat best suited for a random night at the club. This one is a guaranteed banger.

( ☆☆☆ ) nice concept, a bit irregular/boring at times.

Has all the bounciness and quirky production qualities of the new Matmos record but just lacks the bite.

There's not enough good ideas here to really have the album take you anywhere special. Repetitive, often predictable and lacking in personality. Certainly builds a respectable atmosphere though, anyone looking for some dancey background IDM which doesnt hit too deep or heavy check it out.

This album succeeds at everything an electronic can possibly succeed at, except for somewhat repetitive and predictable track structures. Polymer will leave you with your jaw hanging and your eyes wide open. It is absolutely essential listening for anyone even remotely into electronic music, or just good music.

Really, really hope this catches on.
