Dork

'Saves The World' is tears under the disco ball at its finest. It's a more honest and grown-up version of the MUNA we know.

The Independent

If there’s any justice ... Saves the World, should see MUNA joining the ranks of those who have brazenly borrowed their sound.

90
Clash

Ultimately 'Saves The World' is a bold, colourful, lyric return, one that is asserting while remaining utterly honest, completely true to themselves.

80
NME

Amid all this darkness and self-reflection, Muna glitters and whirls melodically, euphoria crashing in waves.

80
DIY

‘Saves The World’ carries the same weight as its predecessor, but breaks the dark-pop boundaries the band themselves created with their debut. It’s an exhilarating ode to self-preservation and to being your own number one fan.

80
Rolling Stone

Saves the World isn’t self-aware so much as frighteningly emotionally intelligent.

77
Pitchfork

Translating alt-rock into pristine pop, the L.A. trio’s second album documents sex, drugs, and suicidal tendencies with less melodrama and more compassion.

70
Loud and Quiet

Rather than reactively penning music in response to the losses and life events ... it seems like the group has turned inwards, reworking their musical DNA to facilitate a fuller form of expression.

65
Northern Transmissions

MUNA are a new frontier of pop that, with their new album Saves the World, mixes in more complex sounds and influences, while sounding more rhythmically punchy with a good dose of EDM involved.

AllMusic

While lyrics stick better than hooks here, the album is not without a handful of low-key anthems, and the atmosphere manages to be consistently warm and inviting despite its mechanical veneer.

BEST SYNTHPOP ALBUM I'VE HEARD IN A FUCKING LONG TIME!!!! SORRY THIS REVIEW WILL BE ALL IN CAPS CAUSE I STILL CAN'T PROCESS WHAT I JUST... ANYWAY, I WAS EXPECTING A GREAT ALBUM SINCE THEY RELEASED "WHO" AS A SINGLE, TIL THEN I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO ALL 3 PRE-ALBUM SINGLES NON STOP. WITHOUT A SINGLE DOUBT I CAN SAY, THAT THIS IS THE BEST SYNTH ALBUM SINCE EMOTION BY CARLY RAE JEPSEN. THE PRODUCTION IS FLAWLESS, THE VOCALS BEYOND, EVERYTHING.. I'M SO GLAD BECAUSE I WAS HYPED FOR A LONG ... read more

Although MUNA craft a stellar album from a production prospective with stellar synthpop energy and danceable tracks, there is limited memorable moments throughout and few levels of variability.

Saves The World is hard to dislike as each song is pleasantly performed both vocally and sonically, but I found that throughout listening I was mostly disengaged and nothing stood out for the most part. That is until the final track where it felt as though MUNA truly saved the best for last in regard ... read more

For someone who gave Wonder Girls' "Reboot" a 90, this really isn't anything special for me. I mean, it IS good, but like said in other reviews, if you're used to classic electropop/synthpop, this won't be a brand new experience for ya. Still good, though!

If you've heard electropop before you've heard everything on this album already so you might as well just skip it. Number One Fan is fun, I'll give this album that. But pretty much the rest of the record is all pretty uninspiring.
