To put things bluntly, I've long found much of Rush's work, even their most-acclaimed work, to be incredibly pretentious, showy, irritating, and overrated. While many prog fans seem to dig Neil Peart's "philosophical" lyrics and the group as a whole's immense technical mastery and ability, my enjoyment of Rush has come in small bursts in between feelings of boredom and annoyance.

When you hold a Progressive Rock band in a hand and hold a 80s synth style in the other, you get Hold Your Fire. All i can say about this album is that the vibe it gives you is astonishing, you won't find any album that sounds so 80s like Hold Your Fire in Progressive Rock at least. Full with great and memorable songs like the beautiful Lock and Key, Mission, the amazing Turn the Page, Force Ten and Time Stand Still are both great openers for the album and set the mood for the whole run.
