Sorry if this review isn't as well-written or well-worded as I like to think some of my others are. I haven't had a full night's sleep in a few days, and I'm in the midst of an intense writer's block to begin with. Luckily, Lighght is just the thing to pick me up; it's energetic, catchy, and just an all-around feel-good album. It's not the most original album in the world, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. Ishibashi may have roots in Of Montreal, which is a band much lauded by fans and critics alike and for reasons I still don't quite understand. That and the love affair with the Animal Collective. Holy Mole [the Mexican sauce not the animal.] Regardless, suppressed talent demands an outlet and so stands Kishi Bashi. Yes, I'm giddy when I hear the strings soar. this album gives us thrilling chamber pop that isn't afraid to take risks, incorporating some bits of electronic production that sound fine for the most part, as well as upbeat melodies that are a nice to listen to.

I can't figure out why there's so much tension in Kaoru Ishibashi's sophomore album and which necessity led him to put so much information in a pop album that simply is...a pop album.
