Ishibashi may have roots in Of Montreal, which is a band much lauded by fans and critics alike and for reasons I still don't quite understand. That and the love affair with the Animal Collective. Holy Mole [the Mexican sauce not the animal.] Regardless, suppressed talent demands an outlet and so stands Kishi Bashi. Yes, I'm giddy when I hear the strings soar. I’m a sucker for violins in rock music in general, but especially when they’re used in contexts outside of orchestral/baroque pop. Kishi Bashi is one of the best purveyor of indie-violin music since Andrew Bird, and they wield their instruments in similar manners.
