Under The Radar

The sounds across its guest-heavy 13 tracks—which draw from stylish modern soul and subdued dance music—may be graceful, but this is fighting music, in the sense that unguarded openness and vulnerability can be radical propositions.

Spectrum Culture

It’s the band’s very reticence that draws one to their music, and to their third album Something Like a War.

Something Like a War feels ambitious and searching, navigating the complex experiences of Bainbridge and their collaborators.

Kindness, in their efforts to cultivate and redistribute softness as a universal tenet, forgot the key rule of living honestly—your vulnerabilities must be specific enough to connect with.

Loud and Quiet

True to Kindness’ production sensibility, their satisfaction seems to come when they’re providing the platform for others’ to take the spotlight. It’s a selfless, instinctive approach that works effortlessly here.

The Skinny

Something Like A War is at its best when it embraces its flexibility with musical styles in an uninhibited melange of sound.

Fans might see this as a boon - Bainbridge picking up from where they left off before their self-imposed hiatus. To others, it may sound like a missed opportunity to establish themselves as a more cutting-edge artist.

In the end, Kindness found a way to success, which makes this album his best work.

On the previous album, he bored everyone (even the biggest fans), but on this album the sound and featurings work well.
Where did we found this outdated 90-s pop album in the late 10-s
Album cover is nice
Completely unknown set of artists for me
Nice sound, very stylish
But so boring
Kindness gives us one of the most delicious albums of the year. It dares to fly high and sometimes it's a successfull try - as in "Hard To Believe" and "Something Like a War". The team picked to join on vocals matches perfectly with each sound. It flows super easy on the ears.

Must listen to: Raise Up, Hard To Believe, No New Lies
Kindness is at his best on this record, even if the lacklustre first half doesn't deliver as well as it's gorgeous second half, backed by an array of talented collaborators.
